New event series set for April 20-23 in Las Vegas, culminating with Billboard Latin Music Awards on Telemundo.

Ozuna and J Balvin are the first superstar acts confirmed to appear onstage at the 2020 LatinFest+ by Billboard and Telemundo, taking place April 20-23 in Las Vegas. The three-day event and panel series, formerly known as Billboard Latin Music Week, has been revamped and expanded as LatinFest+ and is being presented in partnership with Telemundo.

Latinfest+ will be an immersive, weeklong experience for the Latin entertainment industry, artists, executives and fans and will include superstar conversations, industry panels and workshops, celebrity fireside chats, live concerts, fan experiences and live activations of some of Billboard’s most celebrated franchises, including On the Rise and Growing Up Latino.

It all culminates with the Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will air live April 23 on Telemundo. Finalists for the awards will be announced in February.

The launch of LatinFest+ also marks 30 years since Billboard first held its Billboard Latin Music Conference, which has become the longest-running and biggest Latin music gathering in the world. Last year’s event featured panel conversations with the likes of Anuel AA, Wisin & Yandel, Becky G, Karol G, Anitta, Ozuna and Juan Luis Guerra, just to name a few.

This new, expanded LatinFest+ with Telemundo will be far bigger in terms of content and attendance.

Full programming and events for LatinFest+ will be announced in the coming weeks and will include the top artists and trends in the genre, including landmark appearances with J Balvin and Ozuna, two of Latin music’s biggest stars. LatinFest+ arrives at a time when Latin music is enjoying unprecedented popularity. According to Nielsen, to date, there have been 74.6 billion on-demand streams of Latin songs in the United States, making it the fourth-largest streamed music genre behind only R&B/hip-hop (294.5 billion), rock (141 billion) and pop (137 billion), and ahead of country (58 billion) and dance/electronic (33 billion.)

For on-demand video streams, Latin music moves up to third place with 46.5 billion on-demand video streams in the U.S., compared to R&B/hip-hop (100.6 billion) and pop (53.7 billion.)

In 2015, there were only two Latin songs (“El Perdón” by Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias and “Ginza” by J Balvin) featured on the Billboard Hot 100. To date, there have been 22 Latin songs on the 2019 Hot 100 chart.

LatinFest+ will not only reflect this dynamic moment, but will also present the new trends and artists expected to break out in 2020.
