Weezer Scores 17th Top 10 on Alternative Songs With 'The End of the Game' -- 25 Years After First Hit
The band slots into a tie for sixth-most top 10s of all time.
"The End of the Game" rises 12-9 to become the band's 17th top 10, lifting the act into a tie for the sixth-most top 10s in the history of the chart, which began in 1988.
Weezer's haul of top 10s on Alternative Songs dates to its first entry, "Undone (The Sweater Song)," which reached No. 6 in August 1994, extending its span of top 10s on the survey to over 25 years. (The leaders on the list, Red Hot Chili Peppers, sport a span of 27 years of appearing in the top 10 from 1989 through 2016.)

"The End of the Game" is Weezer's fifth straight top 10, extending its career-best streak for most in a row.
Concurrently, the song breaks into the top 10 of the all-rock-format Rock Airplay tally (11-8), becoming Weezer's sixth top 10, with 5.8 million audience impressions (up 16%), according to Nielsen Music. In addition to its success on alternative radio, the track bullets at No. 22 on Mainstream Rock Songs, marking the band's second-highest-charting hit, after the No. 5-peaking "Back to the Shack" in 2014.
"The End of the Game" is the lead single from Van Weezer, Weezer's 14th studio album, currently scheduled for a May 2020 release.
