Peter Murphy’s residency at New York venue Le Poisson Rouge has been postponed after the English musician suffered a heart attack Tuesday night.

The Bauhaus singer and solo artist was rushed to a hospital Tuesday night after a shortness of breath. He was scheduled to play Aug. 15, 16, 18 and 19 at Le Poisson Rouge.

“All of us at LPR are devastated by this news,” the venue said in a statement. “Peter’s performance and presence over the past twelve days has been amazing - both onstage and off. We wish Peter a swift and full recovery and look forward to his successful return to LPR.”

“Mr. Murphy was admitted for treatment of a myocardial infarction. He had two stents placed in his right coronary artery and was started on medications to manage his heart condition,” said cardiologist Jason Song of Lenox Hill Hospital, who treated Murphy, in a statement. “Due to HIPAA regulations we cannot reveal further details of his condition. He is still in the hospital for continued monitoring of his condition.”

The shows will be postponed to later dates to be determined.
