FKA Twigs released a new short film entitled Practice on Tuesday (June 4) via WeTransfer's editorial platform WePresent.

Directed by AnAkA, the artist gets extremely vulnerable as she gives us an intimate look into the vigorous pole-performance training that went into her latest, most ambitious video to date, "Cellophane." It celebrates her year-long video conceptualization and the challenging physicality of training like an athlete that ultimately led to bringing her creative vision to life.

“There was a lot of hard work that went into making the video happen -- on a creative level, on a business level, on a physical level," FKA said in a statement. "It's all very well me going and doing a three minute routine, that's easy. But the difficult thing is knowing that you have the stamina and the strength to do be able to do that three minute routine for eight hours, and that's something different.”

"Things have to get strict," she said of her training schedule. "Making sure I'm having enough protein, making sure I'm sleeping, napping, doing cardio twice a day, training on the pole for at least two hours a day. Then doing some sort of cross training, making sure you stretch, doing yoga, taking care of any strains."

"Even though now I'm the artist -- I'm the eye of the storm -- my mentality is still as if I'm the backing dancer. When you're in that position, you don't want to be the one making someone have to do another take," she continued.

Practice follows FKA's first collaboration with WeTransfer, the Baltimore Dance Project, a documentary following the artist as she celebrates artistic expression with over 400 dancers from Baltimore’s dance community.
