Sofi Tukker has always been worldly in its sound, but latest single "Playa Grande" takes the international cake. The Grammy-winning act got with Colombian band Bomba Estereo to create a three-minute party as vibrant and juicy as a perfect pineapple, and its lyrical message of funk and frivolity comes in a triad of English, Spanish and Portuguese.

The collaborative foursome teamed with frequent Sofi Tukker director Mac Boucher for the music video. It was shot on location at Costeño Beach in Santa Marta, Colombia, specifically in a space near the Tayrona Park natural reserve where the Andes end at the sea. The area is sacred among the locals, counted among those Bomba Estereo member Li Saumet.

"The idea behind 'Playa Grande' was to celebrate nature and the elements; fire, water, earth and air," director Mac Boucher is quoted in a press release. "This felt so natural to Sofi Tukker's vibe, Bomba Estéreo's, and of course the environment we were in. We thought of Li, living on the beach and inviting us into her little piece of paradise was reflective of a spirit of nature, and taking the leap to goddess of the ocean was a natural evolution. Incorporating timeless symbolism like the sun and moon made the imagery much more complete, and tying it together with a fantastical-looking earth made it feel both alien but also reminded us that this is our home."

Brilliant blue waters, bright pink flowers and lively yellows jump off screen as the musical friends live our South American fantasies in high definition. All the while, the song's trilingual dance-pop infects your bomes with exciting energy.

"The only thing more fun than making a song with one of our favorite bands of all time is getting to spend a week with them in their hometown and filming a video with one of our favorite bands of all time," adds Sofi Tukker's Tucker Halpern. "This video was the perfect excuse for us to fly to Colombia, hang out and bond with Bomba Estéreo, and do the most fun activities we could imagine doing together. We rode horses on the beach, took a boat out and went swimming, threw a bonfire party on the beach where Li led a collective orgasm, and got dressed in Colombian clothes."

Ealier this year, Sofi Tukker teased the collaboration during an interview with Billboard's Pop Shop Podcast, and Sophie Hawley-Weld marveled at the bands' instant connection: "I remember walking to the kitchen, and Li was like, 'I can't believe that we're here with one of our favorite bands.' And I was like, 'I can't believe you just said that because you're one of our favorite bands!' There was so much mutual love."

"Playa Grande" follows Sofi Tukker's electric "Fantasy," the second single since its critically acclaimed album Treehouse. Get inspired for your next vacation with the official video below.
