Four-time Grammy-winning gospel artist Yolanda Adams and stage & screen star Kristin Chenoweth will be among the honorees saluted at the Recording Academy's 2019 Grammys on the Hill Awards. The organization’s annual mix of music and politics will take place April 9 at Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C.

Adams, who currently serves as the Recording Academy Texas Chapter President, will receive the Recording Academy's Creators Leadership Award in recognition of her decades of advocacy work supporting fellow creators. Also, Chenoweth, a Tony- and Emmy Award-winning actress and singer, will be celebrated for her philanthropic contributions to the music community with the Grammys on the Hill Philanthropist Award. Both are longtime supporters of MusiCares.

The evening’s other honorees include Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), both of whom will be lauded for their contributions to advancing music creators' rights and supporting legislation that toughens protection for the music industry.

"Grammys on the Hill clearly has an impact and makes a difference," says Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow in a statement issued Tuesday. "It is no coincidence that just one week after last year's Awards and Advocacy Day, the Music Modernization Act unanimously passed the House of Representatives, paving the way for the bill to later be signed into law. Through the continued dialogue between music creators and Congress, we are ensuring a viable future for music makers."

Sponsored by SESAC, the Grammys on the Hill Awards will also feature live performances from the musical honorees and yet-to-be announced special guests.

The day after the ceremony, the Recording Academy will host the annual Grammys on the Hill Advocacy Day which brings together recording artists, industry leaders and lawmakers to discuss the big issues facing the music community.
