Kane Brown Sued by Producer Polow da Don Over Breach of Contract

Columbia Records has named John Strazza senior vp promotion for Columbia and head of promotion for RECORDS, where he has been a member of the staff since 2016. In his new role for Columbia, he will spearhead radio campaigns and initiatives for the label’s roster at the Rhythm format. At RECORDS, he will continue to oversee promotion under the company's joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment.

“My first job in the industry was at Columbia Records,” said Strazza in a statement. “I’ve always valued the company and its artist-first philosophy. Ron Perry and the staff continue to drive the label’s success and I have always respected the Columbia promotion team. I’d like to thank Ron Perry for this amazing opportunity as well as Barry Weiss for his continued support.”


Songtrust announced March 6 that Dewayne Ector is joining the company to lead its newly created global society relations department. Ector and the rest of the department will report to Songtrust co-founder Joe Conyers III. The company’s current director of operations, Kyle Theide, will also transition to a new role as associate director of society relations and report to Ector.

"Dewayne Ector has a deep understanding of the workings of the Collective Management Organisation landscape, having been Head of International at AMRA for last three-plus years and working his way up the ranks at PRS for 8 years prior to AMRA,” said Conyers in a statement. “Dewayne has contributed greatly to the growth of both of these world-class organizations in various ways, including collaborating with and supporting various other CMOs around the globe in their business development activities. And now, we get to welcome Dwayne to Songtrust."


Craig Dunn has been promoted to vice president at Collective Artist Management (CAM), the company announced March 11.

“Craig’s expertise, creativity and experience have proven invaluable to our client roster and to Collective Artist Management,” said CAM president Brinson Strickland. “Since joining our company, he has further grown Sara [Evans]’ brand, including overseeing Born To Fly Records operations and adding co-A&R responsibilities for her acclaimed album Words, and signed and launched the first single from pop R&B artist Grant Landis (Timbaland). By expanding his role, I am confident that Craig will continue to be instrumental in CAM’s new business development and strategic growth.”


Josh Ramani has been named senior vp national and network sales for Radio One and Reach Media, the company announced on March 11.

Josh has led our national radio team for several years,” said company CEO David Kantor in a statement. “He was instrumental in developing and implementing our corporate sales and partnership effort. Based on this success it made great sense to put our network team under his direction. All our national sales efforts are now under his direction. Josh's commitment and passion for what we do at Radio One has been exhibited over the years, consistently delivering leadership throughout the company and maintaining great relationships with our partners in advertising and sponsorship.”


Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP announced March 11 that Monika Tashman has joined the firm as a partner in its entertainment practice. She will be based in the firm’s New York City office.

“Monika is a no-nonsense, creative and innovative advocate. We are very excited for her to join our growing ranks and to help us expand our music transactional practice in New York,” said Jordan Bromley, leader of Manatt’s entertainment transactions practice, in a statement.

“Innovation is in Manatt’s DNA, from working with some of the most exciting and disruptive companies in entertainment to its forward-thinking integrated services model that blends legal and consulting expertise,” added Tashman. “I’m thrilled to join a firm I’ve long admired and help grow their East Coast entertainment practice.”


Concord announced the hiring of Ruth Martinez as senior vp worldwide human resources on March 11. She will oversee the global HR team and report to Concord CEO Scott Pascucci.

“Ruth and I worked together at Warner Music where she distinguished herself with her insight and thoughtful approach to our human resource issues,” Pascucci said in a statement. “We are happy to have her on the Concord team and look forward to working with her to ensure that Concord’s global staff continues to experience a culture of opportunity and fulfillment.”


Ted Cohen has joined MediaTech Ventures as its new head of corporate development, the company announced March 4. He will based in the company’s Austin headquarters.

Sam Powers has been promoted from senior manager to principal at O’Neil Hagaman, LLC. He is responsible for the oversight of the company’s growing publishing consulting activities including due diligence, catalog sales and other areas of work.
