Pop's Comeback Continues With Shawn Mendes, But Hip-Hop Still Rules Streaming: Chart Beat Podcast

Grande ties Bruno Mars for the seventh-most weeks at No. 1.

Ariana Grande returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Feb. 16), rising from No. 2, to become the top musical act in the U.S. for a seventh total week, as her smash "7 Rings" logs a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Grande is likely to lead the Artist 100 again next week, as her new LP Thank U, Next is projected to launch at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with record-breaking totals.

Meanwhile, Grande ties for the seventh-most weeks at No. 1 in the five-year history of the Artist 100. Here's an updated look at the acts with the most time on top:

Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Post Malone rises 3-2; Queen lifts 4-3; Marshmello vaults 42-4, reaching a new peak as his hit "Happier," with Bastille, soars to a new No. 2 high on the Hot 100, following his groundbreaking in-game Fortnite set Feb. 2; and Halsey returns to the top five (6-5).

Plus, alt-pop singer-songwriter Billie Eilish leaps 18-7 on the Artist 100, entering the top 10 for the first time, as her new track "Bury a Friend" flies 74-14 on the Hot 100, marking her best rank. The cut from her debut LP, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (due March 29), bows as her first top 10 on Streaming Songs (No. 8; 29.1 million U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music).
