The Raconteurs Announce 'Help Us Stranger,' First New Album in 11 Years

Journey guitarist and co-founder Neal Schon took to Twitter on Monday (Feb. 11) to express thanks to the people who have supported his journey in recovering from his recent surgery.

After having an inflamed and infected gallbladder removed during an emergency room visit Friday night, Schon tells fans he's grateful for their kind wishes and says he's recovering well.

Schon is scheduled to go on tour later this month for Neal Schon's Journey Through Time, but the 64-year-old assured fans via Twitter that he's expected to make a full recovery and "can't wait to hit the stage."

In another tweet, Schon expressed thanks to to his family, doctors and staff who helped him. "I'd like to thank Dr Minnis for doing such an amazing job and All Marin General Hospital for Being incredibly Kind Ros- Keith & My beautiful Wife Michaele for always continually being by my side and showing me what love really is."

Schon plans to return to his roots for the tour, showcasing songs from the very beginning and paying tribute to classic hits. "We're really going to play anything that's in our repertoire -- anything that Journey has recorded," Schon said in a statement. "I plan on mixing it up a lot and not playing the same set. Stuff from our first three records -- we're going to update that a little bit -- and have some fun jamming!"

Joining Schon and singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie (Journey, Santana) will be former Journey member Deen Castronovo on vocals and drums, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) on bass and vocals, producer Marti Frederiksen (multi-instrumentalist, vocals) and Chris Collins on guitar and keys.

Schon's Journey Through Time tour is set to kick off their first show of 2019 on Feb. 22 at the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort in Jackson, California.
