With 21 Savage still being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the 26-year-old was noticeably absent during Post Malone's "Rockstar" performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Outside of a hidden "Free 21 Savage" shirt from Posty and an acceptance-speech shout-out by Swedish producer Ludwig Göransson, the chatter surrounding 21's freedom was kept to a minimum.

Shortly after the awards show, Savage's co-manager, Kei Henderson, took to Twitter explaining that she attempted to have 21 well-represented in some capacity during Malone's "Rockstar" performance. "Lord knows me, Meezy [Savage's other co-manager] and our team attempted to solidify recognition for Savage during the performance of 'Rockstar,' it just didn't work out that way," she began. "We reached out to several artists to perform Savage’s verse and/or stand in solidarity on stage on his behalf."

DJ Booth ran a story inferring that artists declined the opportunity, but Henderson shot back on Twitter. "'Nobody said yes' ?? Did I say that? Y’all really be just adding shit to my statements," Henderson responded on Twitter. Kei moved on from the misunderstanding and got back to the task at hand. "Anyway. On to more important things, we gotta free my mans. #Free21Savage," the Sincethe80s CEO wrote.

Billboard has reached out to Epic Records and the Recording Academy for comment. Check out Kei's tweets below.

Someone from Epic sent me the photo of Post wearing the Savage tee before he performed. I appreciate the notion. Lord knows me, Meezy and our team attempted to solidify recognition for Savage during the performance of “Rockstar,” it just didn’t work out that way.
