How Asia-Born, U.S.-Based Women Are Ushering In a New Big Band Era

Newlyweds Justin and Hailey Bieber are gracing the February cover of Vogue, and in what serves as the pop star’s first interview in two years, the young couple talks about the importance of building their relationship.

On the cover -- unveiled on Thursday, Feb. 7 -- the couple intimately embrace with a vibrant green lawn as their backdrop, with Hailey wearing a white dress with minimal bedazzle and flowing blonde locks as a buzzcut-haired Justin wraps his tattooed arm around her.

In the cover story, the 24-year-old singer and 22-year-old model speak candidly about the road to marriage and the struggle to “build a healthy relationship.” However, they find that it’s the simple things in life that keep them happy, such as being “homebodies.”

Fans can even get a snippet of their marriage life, as Justin says he wishes the blonde beauty would “take just a little pressure off herself.” “I think we can be married and still have fun and enjoy our adolescence,” he says in the interview. “That’s something we’re talking about.”

Hailey then clarifies that she’s “just fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship. I want people to know that. We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice.”

Justin affirms that he is taking a step back from his music, as he tries to find himself on this new stage of his life. “I’ve been successful since I was thirteen, so I didn’t really have a chance to find who I was apart from what I did,” Justin admits. “I just needed some time to evaluate myself: who I am, what I want out of my life, my relationships, who I want to be—stuff that when you’re so immersed in the music business you kind of lose sight of.”
